Introduction

What is Acts?

Acts is a one year ministry training school in Stockholm designed for young adults who want to grow and serve in pioneer missions and church planting ministry.

The name "Acts" reflects the dynamic expansion of the kingdom of God that we see in the book of Acts in the New Testament.  We believe the "Acts" of the Apostles continue today through our "acts" in partnership with God in the ministry of His kingdom.

Acts vision & purpose

To equip, train and empower young leaders whom God is raising up to expand Jesus' kingdom in Stockholm and in the world.

Acts is in English!

Teaching in English makes it possible for international students to attend Acts as well as students already living in Sweden. This makes it possible for Acts to utilize English-speaking teachers and English training materials.  This also provides good oppurtunity for students to develop their English skills and become better equipped for cross-cultural ministry.

Acts is full-time

Students in Acts are expected to focus their attention full-time upon their training during the year.  There will be 10 hours of classroom teaching each week, and 10 hours of practical ministry experience through internship in a local church.

Acts is FREE!

The local church partnership and the partnership with Ågesta folk college creates the possibility to offer Acts with NO tuition fee.  Acts students from Sweden (and some European countries) are also eligible for full-time student support through their government's education system (CSN berättigad).  Students will be responsible for their own housing and food costs in Stockholm while attending Acts.  (See Costs)

Acts is unique

Acts training school is led by a unique cross-denominational partnership of churches & ministries in Stockholm together with Ågesta folk college.  This unique partnership provides a large faculty of qualified teachers from different church & ministry networks.  The faculty has a broad spectrum of pioneer missions experience and expertise.  (See About us)

Acts fourfold training program

Acts is designed to help students develop as whole persons equipped to serve in pioneering missions ministry within God's kingdom.  Acts ministry training program has a four-fold approach:  (see Program)
  1. Biblical and academic studies with a ministry training focus
  2. Spiritual life formation through worship, prayer and personal ministry
  3. Internship /practicum in a local church in Stockholm
  4. Mentorship /personal coaching by an experienced leader

Acts has a mission!

Stockholm is our mission field!  Stockholm is one of the most secularized cities in the world. It is estimated that less than 2% of the population are active members of a church. The churches partnering together in Acts have a vision to see thousands of new people come to Christ and to see at least 50 new churches planted in the greater Stockholm area by the year 2020.  We call this the "2020 vision" for Stockholm.  (See Stockholm2020 website) During your year as a student in Acts you will participate in fulfilling that vision.  It is our goal that your internship in a local church will involve ministry which has a pioneer missions aspect, for example: serving in ministries which help reach new people for Christ, the development of new groups or ministries, and the development of potential church plants.

Acts is a God adventure!

As a student in Acts you will live, study and serve in Stockholm, one of the most beautiful cities in the world and yet one of the most spiritually needy cities of the world!  You will have oppurtunity to help new people in Stockholm come into God's kingdom. You will gain new insights in God's Word from a broad spectrum of teachers. You will build relationships with other young adults who have a heart for ministry. You will have oppurtunity to serve and grow in a local church ministry. You will have a personal mentor who will help you develop as a whole person and as a servant of God.  You will experience the joys and challenges of teamwork.  You will grow in your relationship with God and in your ability to minister in His kingdom.
